my granola formula

as someone who grew up in a german household where muesli could only be unsweetened and maybe contain raisins, most store-bought granolas and mueslis are too sweet for me. and since they are very expensive too, I usually make my own. this recipe is very adaptable, so use what you have in the house.

for 1 large jar:

3 cups (300g) oats

optional: 1 cup (100g) puffed rice / quinoa

1 cup chopped nuts / seeds*

big pinch of salt

optional flavourings: raisins, sultanas, dried fruits…

optional spices : cinnamon, cacao powder, nutmeg, cardamom…

4 tbsp coconut oil, melted

1/4 cup (60ml) syrup of choice

*some seeds like pumpkin seeds tend to burn quickly, so I add these after baking

method:

preheat oven to 170°C.

combine the oats, seeds, salt and spices in a large bowl.

melt the coconut oil and syrup in a small pot until emulsified, then add to the oat mixture and mix well.

bake at 170°C for 30 minutes. cool on the baking tray.
